Take Me Out

Last night we took the boys to their first baseball game. I can't believe it's taken us 3 years to get Jack to game. He's been to a PBR Rodeo but not a baseball game til now. We went to San Jose to see the single A farm team for the San Fran Giants. It was a lot of fun! The boys had a blast! There was a family fun zone with blow up bouncy houses and slides and a bunch of games for the kids. It wasn't crowded so Jack really loved that part. :-) His other favorite was the gorilla mascot, Gigante. He followed that thing all over the ball park for the whole game. He watched a little of the game while he was enjoying a big red slurpee. Ty also had a great time. Mainly he was into people watching, he made friends with everyone around us and waved to every airplane that flew over (we were 5 minutes away from the San Jose airport so basically 1 plane every 10 minutes.)
This night at the baseball game was exciting to me because we're huge fans of farm team baseball games. When Tom was at OBC in Ft. Knox years ago we went to the Louisville farm team games. Now that we're going to be calling Ft. Knox home soon, I can't wait to take the boys to those games. Also, back in PA we were 30 mins away from the Reading Philies. I have many great memories of hanging out at those games with Tom while we were dating and friends from home. Who wouldn't enjoy cheap beer, ice cream in a mini baseball helmet, good baseball, diving for t-shirts being shot from a t-shirt cannon and hanging out with friends? You can't help but have a good time when you go there. I'm excited to share that with Jack and Ty.

Jack being a rebel....we didn't have tickets for those seats.

Ty doing what he does best....snacking.

That crazy gorilla

The infamous McMurtrie Family face for pictures....don't worry Ty, you'll get it soon enough!

Last weekend we headed down to the Coast Guard Pier to check out the Navy Ship that's docked out in the bay. I have no idea what the name of this ship is, I've Googled it every creative way I could with no luck. It's apparently here for some training excercises or something. It was cool to see and the boys ooohhed and aaaahhhhed at it, for the 2 seconds their attention spans would allow. :-) I thought it was pretty cool to see anyway. Here's a few more pics of Jack hiding from the camera.

switching hands didn't help...

It's way too easy to steal food from your little brother!

A big boat???? What you talkin' about Willis???

Ty has a new obsession...... it's wearing Jack's Spider Man bicycle helmet. It's so funny because he finds it whether its in the garage, Jack's room or the toy box. Then he drags it out and brings it over to any one willing to put it on his head. Then he wears it until his big round head is so sweaty he starts to stink a little. hahahaha! Personally, I'm 100% OK with him wearing it because I've been saying for a while this kid needs a helmet and pads so it works in his favor. :-)

Once again climbing on the table.....

Safety first!

Loving his new "hat"

When Pudding Attacks

Lately Ty's been working on his self feeding skills. We help get his food on the spoon or fork and he takes it from there. The other day he did pretty well....tonight not so much. He definitely lost his battle with the corn casserole (what's on the top of his head) and the chocolate pudding. Hahahah! He was such a nasty mess he went straight to bath. I love those sloppy moments, so picture perfect.

Jack's been working on his aversion to having his picture taken. He's so much like Tom it's scary! Hahhah! He's constantly telling me "No pictures!" when I have the camera out, which is often. :-)

Almost.....

Gotcha! (I think he looks like a mini Tom in this shot)

Nice Ride

The other day I went grocery shopping and when I got home the boys were having a blast with the 4 wheeler. Ty has been riding it a lot lately and has just recently figured out how to make it go. He tries to ride anything with wheels. Now, one child can't have all the attention, oh no! So this is the result....they team up and get the attention together.

Also....I have been doing a sewing project lately. There was an article in our local paper about reusable grocery bags. Ca is working on or already passed a law banning plastic shopping bags or having to recycle the bags. I personally think this is an amazing idea! Google told me (hahaha) Californians use 19 billion plastic bags per year. That's 600 bags per second. The bags have only been around 50 years so no one really knows how long it would take if they decomposed at all but some guess 500-1,000 years. Anyway.... This article included a few ways and websites to make your own grocery bags. I found a super easy pattern. It tells you to use an old bed sheet but our local fabric store had patterned fabric on sale for $2/yard so I went with that instead. I'm quite proud because I didn't injure myself or blow up my sewing machine! Success!!! :-)!!!

An Impossible Feat & Evil Knievel

For me an impossible feat is getting both of my children to look at the camera at the same time!
Sometimes we get really close.....

Other times....not so much!

You would think calling their names would get a look....nope!

Then I think they pair up just to mess with me!

I'll chalk this one up as a success. It's the closest we got. Hahah!

I'd like you to meet our own little Evil Knievel. This kid is fearless and climbs everything. No obstacle is too great and when Ty gets to the top of his mountain (the couch, the recliner, or the kiddie table) he's bursting with pride!

My Super Hero and his sidekick Elton John

I think every little boy should have a superhero cape. Jack asked for one a long time ago and we rigged an old piece of fabric I had left over from a blanket I was making.

Recently I decided to make my own reusable grocery bags (that'll be my next post) and while I was at the fabric store I picked up some satin for an upgraded superhero cape. I looked on-line for a pattern but really didn't find one I liked so I just winged it. Isn't that always the most fun anyway? Hahaha! I am by NO means a great seamstress so to my and Tom's surprise, it came out pretty well. Jack loves it. He wears it a lot which I love because he's so cute running around with his head turned so he can see it flying behind him. He even told me that when he wears his cape he can run faster and jump higher. We also heard these same claims when he got a pair of Spider Man sneakers. hahaha! Whatever works!!

And we all know that after a rough afternoon of crime fighting and running faster and jumping higher you need a good nap, right? While I was chasing Ty, Jack ran in the house and came out with his sheet and pillow. When I asked him why he was dragging all this outside he simply told me, "I need to rest", and so he did. Once again....Whatever works! Hahahah!

I thought Ty was a little too small for a superhero cape just yet. Jack busted out the Elton John sunglasses that he loved so much and shared. I'm not sure who wore them better, but I know Sir Elton John would be so proud!!

This picture is so hilarious to me because it looks like he was posing so perfectly for it, pinkie out and all, when in fact he was trying to wrestle them off his face. :-)

7 Years

Yesterday Tom and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary. We had such a great day. We had a late dinner of lobster tails and steak after the boys went to bed. Then we got to hang out on the back deck drinking wine. It was so nice! We exchanged gifts earlier in the day. Tom got me a beautiful new wedding band. When we first got married we got these ugly 2 toned things. Tom got to upgrade his ring last year, it was pretty beat up. I'm telling you this because Tom got me this beautiful, romantic, thoughtful, gift and I got him these......AIRZOOKAS.

How could I get him just 1 and have no defense of my own? Needless to say, they were a BIG hit! (The airzooka fires a big puff of air 20-30 feet, it's totally harmless and a lot of fun!) Tom does have a normal, thoughtful, gift on the way but it won't be arriving until Friday. :-( I think the airzookas won me some points though. Jack LOVES playing with it too, however the dogs aren't fans. Lola just can't seem to figure it out.....

Don't worry we gave her lots of love to make up for taunting her. :-)

Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

Last weekend we went to Santa Cruz to check out their boardwalk. It was pretty impressive. Way more up to date than Jersey, but with the same ambiance. It was a lot of fun. I think that had to do a lot with our company too. We went with my good friend Anne and her family. Jack and her little boy, Andrew are the same age and got to go on a lot of the rides together. They had a great time. We walked around, ate some not so good food, then rode the rides. We went on a Sunday so it got pretty crowed but that meant good people watching. And oh boy were there some winners out that day! Hahaha! There was a carousel which was a definite hit. Jack named his horse "Pickles" and Andrew named his horse "Bubbles". The boys rode the boats, the cars, the flying dragons, a really lame train, the helicopters, and Jack went on the Free Fall. This was crazy to me because I thought for sure he was going to freak out and they would have to stop the ride. But sure enough...Tom was right (that's right, I'll give him that) and he LOVED it! Of course Jack wasn't tall enough to go on it himself which left Tom to be chaperon. (this didn't really make sense to me because they each had their own seats so how was Tom really helping Jack on the ride??? Hhmmm???) Anyway, This was great for picture opportunities because Tom was harnessed in and had no where to run. Mmwaaaa hahahhah!!! (that's my evil laugh)

Waiting in line for the Kiddie Free Fall

So many captions can go with this picture. Hahahah!
