Fashion Disaster!

We all have that favorite article of clothing that we're reluctant to get rid of. Every year it gets more and more out of style yet we hold on to it just because it's super comfy or means something to us. And by saying "we" and "us" I mean Tom. HAhahah! Tom has this navy blue polo shirt with bright green swordfish all over it straight out of the 80's. I really don't think it's his favorite. I'm pretty sure that me saying it's the ugliest shirt ever makes him keep it. Every time we've moved we discussed getting rid of the shirt with the conversation ending with him saying, "I like it!" in a very proud voice. In the 6 years that we're married I have never seen him wear this hideous shirt. I thought...it'll be the ugly thing in the closet that's our running joke. Well that joke got worn this week. I was feeding Ty and getting Jack ready for nap and out of the bedroom walks Tom in the infamous swordfish shirt. I did a double take and then just lost it. There I was laughing and thinking that he was just kidding and he'd go change. Nope! He said good bye to us all and out the door he went. I can't believe he wore the swordfish shirt to school! See, the dress code for him at NPS is collared shirts and no jeans. I NEVER thought this shirt would really get seen by the public eye. My apologies to all of those who had to witness this fashion disaster. I'm sorry that I wasn't smart enough to sneak that freakish piece of clothing in the garage sale last week. I'm sure I would have gotten a good 25-50 cents for that thing! But don't take my word for how ugly this shirt is, see for yourself...

On another note...Ty's 8 weeks old. He's such a great baby! Laid back, good eater, great sleeper and just loves hanging out and staring at us. He's starting to smile and coo a lot more. I love his HUGE smile! Jack's doing great too. We had our first "Wee-nastics" class today. Jack had the best time jumping on the trampoline, bouncing on the mats and hanging on the bars. I had a lot of fun too! The class is once a week and we'll definitely be going back! Hopefully I'll be able to get some pictures next week to share!

Believe or not Jack actually took this picture...I think he has a future! :-)

Pelican Air Show

When Tom's mom was in town we ventured to the beach for an afternoon. We headed to Carmel because we were taking the dogs along. You can have them off the leash there, and this was Lola's first trip to the beach. This is our favorite thing to do here. The ocean's too cold for swimming so just hanging out and playing in the sand is fun enough. Sadie won't get in the water, who knows why, but Lola took after her. We could not get her in the ocean. She did enjoy digging though. That's for sure! Hahahah! While we were hanging out we noticed this huge flock of birds sitting on the water. We figured there was a school of fish swimming around. Then we saw all these pelicans flying in. They started diving in the water after the fish. It was crazy, I felt like I was filming for National Geographic or something. Now if only I could see a stinkin' whale!!! :-)

Oh How We LOVE Elmo!!!

Jack's obsession with Elmo began a little before he turned 1 year old. He'll be 2 on August 14th. This math means Tom and I have endured a solid year of Elmo. We started off with the little stuffed Elmo, the talking Elmo chair (which no longer has batteries) and the occasional Elmo's World DVD. That gradually turned into a collection not because Jack wanted more but because Tom and I got sick of watching the SAME Elmo's World clip over and over and over and over. We needed the variety. So much so that our TV show recordings are not full of drama shows or cool Discovery Channel shows or Wipeout episodes, it's full of Sesame Street. We tried turning him on to other cartoons with no luck. Where I'm going with this is....use your children's obsessions to your advantage. Advice to live by people!! Hahahah

The last time Tom's mom was here Jack started to throw a fit when we put him to sleep, at nap or at night. The crazy thing is we'd go through the routine of drink, 3 books, then bedtime. As we'd leave the room he'd rush after us trying to squeeze through the door like his room was on fire. The weirdest part was that after he cried/screamed/howled for 2 minutes, he'd climb back up in bed and go to sleep. That was it. We thought is was change from Boobie going back to PA. We tried everything. Well, almost everything.... While Boobie was back in town she gave Jack $10.00 from Tom's grandmother. Jack picked out a new Elmo movie (no surprise there). He picked "Bedtime with Elmo". Elmo goes through all the issues with going to bed. He watched it once with Boobie, and hasn't cried going to bed since! I LOVE ELMO!!! That little annoying fur ball really works like magic. We tell Jack, "It's time to go to sleep like Elmo, say goodnight to the moon." and off to a peaceful dreamland he goes. It's amazing. Two straight months of freaking out at bed time and all it took was an Elmo movie! I should write Kevin Clash (the man behind Elmo) a BIG Thank you note! I should also write Fisher Price a thank you for the baby swing! That thing was genius!! What would I do with out it??? Jack loved it and Ty loves it too, but not as much as Tom and I! Hahahahah How did our parents survive without all these things? :-)

Here are some pictures...Ty's starting to smile, coo, and follow our voices. Jack gets a kick out of it!

Trip to Toys 'R' Us

On Thursday, Jack, Ty, myself and Boobie, ventured out to Salinas to pick up Ty's birth certificate. I love how all of our birth certificates are so different. Tom and I were both born in PA, Jack's is a Consular Certificate of Birth Abroad and Ty's is a big navy blue cert. from Monterey County. Anyway, Since we were in Salinas we also made our way over to Toys 'R' Us. Jack will be turning 2 in August. (I can't even believe he's going to be 2 years old. Where did that time go?) So with him turning 2 I'm in search of a cool gift. Tom doesn't do so well on my random shopping trips when I'm "Just looking" for things. He needs to have a "get in, buy it, get out", plan in place to shop. HAHAHHA! Anyway, I should know better than to take a grandparent toy shopping for a 2 year old who LOVES everything. All I wanted was a kid's size table and chairs and a gift idea for August. Needless to say we drove home with the stroller in the front seat and Sandy squeezed in between the 2 car seats because we packed the back of the car with Jack's new favorite thing (which Boobie and I put together without Tom)....

This play gym was a surprise from Boobie. It was picked out because of the telescope and wheel. There's a wheel at the big playground that Jack plays with constantly. On top of the play gym Jack got a T-Rex. The T-Rex is huge and is as big as he is. It's funny to watch him carry it around. Lola even enjoys T-Rex. We want to THANK Boobie for all the goodies for Jack, especially the Spider Man DVD because now we have something to watch other than Elmo. Hahahah!

6 weeks and 6 hours

Titus is 6 weeks old today. I can't even believe that 6 weeks could fly by so fast. I guess when you're half out of it and have no idea what day it might be, time tends to fly. :-) Ty celebrated turning 6 weeks old by sleeping for 6 straight hours last night. Can I get a big...."Yaaahooooo!!!" It's so amazing what sleep does for a person. :-)

I LOVE this fat little face!!

Today Tom's mom flew in for a week. Of course when a grandparent visits Jack gets presents. Hahaha. He got a special gift from one of Boobie's friends, Jean Marie. A Spider Man book bag that lights up. Does everyone remember the obsession he had with the Spider Man shirt that lit up? We have Boobie to thank for that one! Well...Jean Marie...thanks for the new obsession. :-) He really LOVES his bookbag!! Even the Spider Man undies that came with it!

And on a doggie side note...this is Lola's new favorite place. Some passer-bys make take a quick look in our house and think we have a cat...oh no, that's just Lola watching the neighborhood. Sadie's doing great too! She's like a puppy again having all these babies in the house!

Drama Faces

My boys could be the new look to the drama faces. Jack LOVES holding Ty, however this is usually the face we get from Ty when this happens.

We've also been having great weather here so we're enjoying being outside. What's the coolest thing to play with while you're outside?? We tried the sprinkler...not so much fun (I had fun with it...Jack didn't). Then we played with the hose...oh boy! Watering the plants and then shooting the hose straight up in the air to have it rain down on us....so much fun! Why do I even bother buying toys? Seriously, our favorite things are my measuring cups and spoons, hairbrushes, fly swatter and the hose. I wonder what my favorite non toy - toy was growing up.....Mom?? Do you remember?

Oma and Pop Pop's Visit

My parents were in town for a week. It was so great having them here! We haven't seen them since last November. It's hard seeing your family only twice a year. All of you fellow military families can relate I'm sure. Being so far away from family, all the time isn't the best, especially when you have children. It is what it is though so we try and make those few times loads of fun!
While my parents were here we went to the beach, shopped at the outlets, played in the yard, went to the pier, saw seals up close and just hung out and played. Ty was only 3 weeks at the time and things were a little crazy with our schedule...or lack there of. Jack enjoyed every minute of Oma and Pop Pop being here. Reading books with my mom and wearing my dad's live strong bracelet were his highlights by far. Of course he showed off the whole week they were here. They were definitely his audience and he played it up in every way...good and bad. Plus they spoiled him so he loved that too. :-) Here's a few pictures from that week.....

Oma and Pop Pop, we love you and miss you! Thanks for hanging out with us and our craziness!!! Hahaha! :-)
