First Days of School

My goal was to use this blog as a digital scrapbook for the boys and a way to keep our families up to date on pictures. I haven't blogged in a few months and I have total guilt. Poor Bodie...I have a lot of catching up to do. We had a pretty amazing summer, lots of trips, time spent with family, we moved, new state, new house, new schools for the boys, all kinds of stuff. Not knowing where to even begin I thought I'd start with the boys' first days of school.  Here we go....back on the blogging wagon!!!!

Jack started 1st grade at Roye-Williams Elementary. He gets to ride the bus everyday and loves his teacher. (I do too). He's 1 month in and seems to be doing great!

Tom was in Afghanistan for Jack's first day of kindergarten last year. This year he was able to be home for Jack's first day of first grade which was awesome! But in keeping everything square, like the Army does, he's at ILE for the next few months and missed Ty's first day of pre-school. If anything, we're consistent, right? :-)

So here's Ty on his first day of Preschool. He's attending Grace United Methodist three days a week. It's a cooperative school so the parents volunteer once every 5 weeks as a teacher's helper. I'm pretty excited about it. Since we moved here way after signups someone dropped out and there was one opening left for the morning class and we got it! Yeah! I love when things work out and I couldn't be happier. His teacher, Ms. Courtney is amazing and Ty is loving his school. Favorite thing: show and tell every Friday. I can't believe how big he's getting!!!

Bo had a first day too, it was his first day of being the big guy on campus, no brothers to boss him around, just him. As exciting as this big day of firsts was, Bo didn't enjoy it as much as Ty. Poor kid was NOT ok with leaving without him. We walked into Ty's room, signed him in and as we were leaving Bo started crying for Ty. He walked to the car with tears flowing, screaming...."No leave Ty school". We took a detour to Target and a quick walk through the toy aisles calmed him right down. It took 2 weeks of dropping Ty off for Bo to be ok with leaving Ty behind. He's so sweet!

Off to the races!

Tom's mom visited us last week. I love getting visitors! :) We had a lot of fun while she was here! Thanks Sandy for a great week!!!!

We went to Glendale where Jack got to feed a baby Alpaca.

We got to go picnic style with pizza and corn on cob.

Then we headed to Churchill Downs to watch the horse races. On the day we went it they had a petting zoo.

I love Ty's face!!!!

I love this picture!

Fun in the Sun

We got to lay low and just hang out this weekend. We're getting ready for our move in a few weeks so it was the perfect weekend to get somethings checked off the ever growing todo list and unwind. We filled up our pool, set up the canopy and filled a tub with water balloons. It was the perfect day! No one fought going to bed last night! :)

Jack's graduation

Jack graduated from kindergarten last week. They had a ceremony at school. Tom's mom was down visiting so she got to witness the festivities.
I can't believe how fast this year flew by! He had an amazing first year of school! I watched him grow in so many ways, he was man of the house for 6 months while Tom was deployed, he exceeded all of our expectations for him in school, made a lot of friends (Savian and Janet, AKA Meatball, will be missed the most.), he had fun and really enjoyed going to school! So, we now have a first grader as we set off on our next Army adventure! I hope he loves his new school as much as he loved Rineyville!

Of course we don't leave home without a full bag of snacks. This picture was taken just before and entire class of 3rd graders sat on the row in front of us then Ty spilled an entire bag of M&Ms. This prompted 4 giggling little girls to stand up and help us pick them up. Hahahaha! Then they cooed over Bodie for most of the ceremony. :)

Bo's Birthday!

Happy birthday Bubba!!!!

Bodie turned two on Monday. I can't believe my little baby is getting so big. He's grown so much and does something new everyday that makes us laugh out loud or just shake our head and point at each other and say "He's your kid". :) He has the best dance moves out of all the Murties, loves to say "No", eats almost anything you put in front of him, enjoys stripping down out of his jammies overnight, loves everything trucks and baby animals, (he seems to really love penguins for some reason), he's trained like Pavlov's dog when he hears the lid clang to the M&M jar, he rocks the pouty lip, loves to see himself on camera and tries to do everything his older brothers do. He can operate my iPhone better than me, REFUSES to sit in a high chair or the seat in a grocery cart, which makes me look like a crazy mom with the screaming kid because I had to shove him in said high hair or grocery cart if I just don't give up and let him win that day, shares ALL of his food with Lola, refuses to call Sadie by her name so to him we have 2 Lolas. Also according to Bo; our family is made up of Mom, Dad, Bo, Bo and Bo. Hahahah! He loves books and even eats salad. He loves his brothers and they love him! He's such an amazing kid, I seriously don't know how I got so lucky!
Bodie....we love you so much and you make everyday something special. You're an amazing little guy and I can't wait to see you grow, but just take your time, it's happening way too fast! :)

Good morning Birthday boy!

So goofy!

The traditional Elmo face. The third and final time I'll make it! Unless Tom really wants it! :)

Dig in!!!

Poor Elmo!

Yes Man

Bo is starting to pick up a lot of words. Of course Tom and I have to translate but we're even still translating Ty speak too. Haha! Now that Bo's getting a little chatty we have our favorite Bo words. I love when he says "school bus" but I think for Tom and I, our favorite is when Bo says "yes". It comes out like he has a retainer in his mouth and sounds like "yesshhhhh". Hahah! Here's a little conversation with Bo.....

Comfy Bo

We check on the boys every night. Mainly so we know they're snug in their beds, covered up and all cozy. Some nights are pretty entertaining. Ty can sleep in a ton of positions that would send most people to the chiropractor the next day. Jack talks in his sleep and has been caught sleeping sitting up. Hahaha! And Bo has now joined his brothers with wacky sleep habits. This is how we found him last night........

Yep....that's right. He channeled Al Bundy. He managed to get his jammies unzipped and half off. I guess this then made him cold so why not shove a hand down your pants, or in his case a diaper. Hahahahahah!!! Thank goodness it was a clean one! :)

Silliness

The boys love their board games! We were playing Fibber the other day. It mainly turned into who wore the crazy purple glasses the best! Silly boys!!!

Ty"s Swimming Progress

I was lucky enough to get Ty in swim lessons this month. There is a HUGE lack of swim lesson options in our area. Off post they are so expensive you'd think Michael Phelps was giving private lessons. On post, the lessons are limited and they fill up fast. If the sign ups start at 9am, people will already be waiting for an hour or 2 before the doors to the office even open. Then you have to go in and you get a number and you have to wait until your number is called. Once you get called up you get to pick from what's left. It's crazy. We did this ONCE. We went and waited almost 2 hours, I vowed to never waste my Saturday morning like that again. Sooooo, I wait until the day AFTER sign ups start, then I call and see if there is anything left over. And that's how Ty got lessons for this month. Unfortunately, next month filled right up.
So Ty had his very first swim lesson 3 weeks ago. I thought he did great but his teacher told me he needed to work on going under water. . . . . . . . . . Um. . . . . . . .It was his very first lesson and I figured as much. Since we got the leftover lessons he didn't have class the next week. So his 2nd lesson was this past Tuesday and he surprised all of us! He did AMAZING!!! He was going under water, down the slide, floating and even swam on his own without any floatie devices. I was so excited for him! He kept looking over at me and giving me a thumbs up. Hahahah! I actually got choked up watching him. He was pretty fearless and I couldn't have been prouder! Way to go TY!!!!

During the private lessons in the mornings we have to share the pool with the aqua-aerobics class. Bodie really enjoys rocking out to the music and flirting with the older ladies. :-)

Long time, No blog ................Jack's Talent Show

I'm back. :-)

To start it all off again, here's a video of Jack at his talent show a few weeks ago. His music teacher organized a talent show for the entire school. The younger kids only preformed in front of their own classes. It was the perfect setting for each kiddo's first public speech. His teacher did an amazing job of making the kids feel comfortable and she encouraged them to keep talking in the microphone after their talent, which of course was the highlight of it all. :-) They could sing, dance, paint, or even do a math problem. It was completely up to them.
Jack chose to talk about playing soccer. He decided to wear his jersey into school, and he showed everyone his medal and trohpy. We practiced the things he was going to talk about a few times but the morning of his show, he was super nervous. I told him that if he didn't feel comfortable doing it, that he could change his mind then. But he should at least try. Plus I reminded him of the whole microphone thing again. Hahha. He was really excited to use the microphone.
Parents were allowed to attend the show. I was 1 of 2 moms that showed up. Jack has 22 students in his class and it kind of broke my heart that no one else was able to get there. I understand though that it's not easy to get time off and all that, I do. I just thought there'd be more than 2 of us. And as always where I go so do Ty and Bo. :-) They loved the talent show! Bo danced every time there was a song, Ty clapped for each student like they just won the World Series. Hahahah!
The talent show was really cool. I think all but 3 students preformed something and you could see them beaming when they finished their talent and everyone clapped for them.
I was so proud of Jack. For being so nervous that morning, I'm glad he over came his fear and he did an awesome job! With no further ado......Here's Jack............
