A night away then hittin' the road.

On July 30th Tom and I spent a night away from the kids. This was the first night ever being away from Ty and Bodie, except when I had Bodie. Tom's mom flew down and spent the night with the boys so we could go. We're so lucky to have family that helps us out in big ways. Not only did we need a baby sitter but we needed her to babysit 680 miles away.
So on that Saturday morning we drove 5 hours and got to Toledo just to have enough time to get ready and head to the wedding. We met up with fellow friends of ours from Germany that I haven't seen in 4 1/2 years. It's crazy how we've all morphed into grown-ups over these last few years. The last time I hung out with Bridget and Mike Kennedy, a time before we all had kids, we went to a fest in Schweinfurt and Bridget and I rode an awful carnie ride and where we screamed like little sissies and almost lost our lunch. Hahah! Our old group has gotten together over the years but we've never seemed to make it to the same event as them so it was awesome to hang out again! And what better venue than Jason's wedding!
The ceremony was outside on a golf course, and it was short, sweet and so, so hot! I felt bad for the groomsmen in their suits! Jason and Erin looked amazing and the wedding was beautiful! Who doesn't love having a reason to get dressed up? I think it was the first time I wore a fancy dress in 2 years. Plus I love seeing Tom in a tie. It's so different from his uniform. :-) So congrats to Jason and Erin! I'm so glad they let us celebrate with them and thanks to Sandy who let us have the best date night we've had in a while! :-)
After Tom and I got home Sunday night I finished packing for our trip to PA. Sandy drove there with me to help me with the kids and it was SOOOO needed! I'm forever grateful that she helped me out! The kids benefited, I kept my sanity and it was great having someone to talk to on the 14 hour drive! The boys did amazing in the car. They are great travelers! And I love my mini van! Hahahah!
We stayed at my parent's house. Jack and I shared a room and I shared a room with Bodie. It worked out surprisingly well! I wasn't too sure how Jack and Ty would be as roommates again, but they did great. Plus I'm sure it helped that they were beyond exhausted every night! Here's a few pictures from our first few days in PA.

Here's Tom's grandmother with Bodie.

Great Gramme Fels and the boys.

The sleeping arrangements

Bodie spun himself sideways every night in the Pack N Play.

Of course there were rides on Umpa's Zero-turn. (no worries, the blades were off!)

Oma's going to need a bigger chair the next time we're home!
