4 weeks and 1 door down

First let me say...Happy 4 week birthday Titus. I can't believe it's been 4 weeks. Holy crap!! Ty's doing great! Forgive me for repeating myself but I just can't get over how much more relaxed we are with the 2nd baby. If it wasn't easier the 2nd time around with a 2 yr old added to the mix, we'd be losing our minds for sure!!! I've been blessed with happy healthy boys that are pretty easy going and even more blessed with an AMAZING husband. (Tom's going to roll his eyes at me when he reads this but he'll get over it.) He's so good to me and the kids!! Tom has made these past 4 weeks too easy! Ty sleeps from around 11pm-4am then he's up for about 2 hours then back to sleep for 3 hours. I do the night feeding because I'd have to get up and pump anyway and with school, Tom needs a good night's sleep. Tom gets up with the dogs around 6:30 (Lola's an early riser) then gets Jack ready for the day and feeds him breakfast and then when Ty wakes up around 8 or so gets him changed and ready for me. During all of that craziness he lets me sleep. Plus he doesn't stop there. He keeps Jack entertained, walks the dogs, helps with dinner, etc...Like I said, he is amazing. I could go on and on about how he's spoiling me and the boys. He is such a great dad and I love him so much for the guy he is!! :-)
Ok, now that I have that out of my system I can share about our evening. We have 9 doors in the house. They all lead to closets, bedrooms and bathrooms. Only 1 of them has a lock on it. Do you all know where this is going??? Our bedroom is the lucky room with the lock. Of course we only have 1 key that goes with this house and it's for the front door. So when you add it all up what does this equal???....Jack locking himself in our bedroom. There's no other way in to this room except through a window in the back of the house that's about 15 feet off the ground. (we don't own a ladder). So after about 15 minutes of trying to get Jack to unlock the door and unsuccessfully picking the lock with paperclips Jack was getting scared, started crying and then Tom kicked the door in. Tom convinced Jack to sit on the bed so he was out of the way and no injuries were had except for the door of course. (To Alan, our landlord, if you're reading this...no need to worry. The door frame was not harmed and the door will be replaced....soooo sorry!!!) But what do you do? He's 22 months old and smarter than we are, that's for sure!

Notice the nice footprint....ouch!
And just to add a smile to your day here's a few more pictures.

For the love of string cheese!

Ok, I have a million things to blog about and a ton of pictures to post. My parents were here last week and we had such a great time!! But I need a little more than 5 minutes between crying kiddos to get a good post completed. So I'm at least going to blog about this....

Jack LOVES string cheese! So much so that when he went into the fridge and chose that for snack he just couldn't wait the 2 seconds it would have taken me to open it. So what did he do? What any hungry guy would do.....gnaw through the plastic wrapper. Hahaha. Thank goodness I noticed it quickly because I don't think the wrapper would have held him off long. All for the love of string cheese!

Visitors

Oma and Pop Pop are in town. My parents arrived on Saturday. Jack is very excited to have an audience to preform for. Hahaha. He's such a ham! We've ventured down to the wharf and went out on a Coast Guard pier. This is where we saw herds of seal or sea lions, whatever they are. There was a loading ramp for boats and there were tons of seals just hanging out and barking up a storm. This is the closest we've been to them, it was pretty cool. Today my parents went on a whale watching tour. They wanted to take Jack but after some good thinking we decided that it might not be a good idea to send a 2 yr old on a boat for the first time for 3 hours. I'm really glad he didn't go because my mom spent half of the boat trip hurling over the back. Hehehhehe. Anyway, they saw lots of humpback whales, pretty cool. Well, now we're heading outside to play in the pool. Here's a few pictures....

Furry Babies

My neighbor captured this picture of Sadie and Lola the other day. this is them sitting on our back porch waiting for me to let them back in the house. It's so cute, I had to share. Now if I'd only be so lucky to get a picture of my boys posing so nicely. Hahhaah

Our babies as babies

I didn't see the resemblance at first. I guess it's been awhile since I saw Jack as a newborn. There's no denying they're brothers!

Proud Big Brother

I have to share these pictures of Jack and Ty. Jack is an amazing big brother. I was worried about jealousy and acting out and Jack totally hating Ty. I have no need to worry. Jack's become a little more clingy to me but I think that's more from being in the hospital and not seeing him until after school for 2 days.
Jack is so sweet to Ty. He's always asking to hold him and he's soooo gentle. He's fascinated with his eyes and loves when Ty actually looks right at him. He thinks it's hilarious when Ty cries or coos. I'm sure it's helping that Ty's been giving Jack presents too. I had a few people tell me to have some new gifts on hand and when the meltdown starts, have the baby give Jack a present. I must say....good advice! :-) Today he got a little Magna Doodle. Well, we're about to watch the Belmont Stakes and then Tom's off to make a Target run for me and get Jack a much needed hair cut. He's quite fuzzy! :-) Here's a few more pictures. (Even Lola finds the Boppy comfy.)

Big news....

We'd like you all to meet....

Titus Xavier McMurtrie

Ty was born on June 2nd @ 2:27 am. He weighed 7 pounds 13 oz and measured in at 20 inches long. My delivery went SUPER fast. I still can't wrap my head around how fast he came into the world. I started having contractions Sunday night when Tom and I went to bed. I was waking up every 2-3 hours but they were mild. On Monday I had a busy day. Lola had a vet appointment and then I went into work for 3 hours. I then went and picked up Jack at daycare to only spend and hour and half there talking job opportunities with the center director (we'll save that for another blog). Then when Tom got home went to Costco and Office Depot and grabbed some dinner. Of course I was having contractions all day but I convinced myself it was false labor. When I had Jack my whole stomach felt the contraction. With Ty I was only having pain in my lower abdomen. I seriously thought it was all braxton hicks. Especially since I was at my doctor's office on Thursday and there was nothing going on. Needless to say, I was very wrong! We went to bed around 9:30pm, I couldn't sleep and ended up getting sick around midnight. With that and the contractions getting stronger we called Dr. Keith. After that phone call, my friend and co-worker Rhonda got her phone call to hang out with Jack. We got got the hospital around 1am. I was already 4cm dilated. My first question was...."when can I have the epidural???" Well, the drugs never happened. I didn't even get pain medication in my IV. My labor moved a long soooo fast they had to keep me from pushing because the doctor wasn't here yet. As soon as Dr. Keith came, 2 pushes later Ty made his grand entrance. I was here for an hour and half and had Ty. I must of begged for the epidural like I was a junkie or something. Hahaah. All I kept saying is that I remember the pain from Jack and want the drugs. Ty had a different plan. :-) So the delivery went really well, Ty is a very happy and healthy baby. He's taken to nursing right away and is very peaceful and curious. I've only heard him cry 3 times.
Another great thing about the quick delivery was that Tom was able to get home to Jack before he even woke up and knew we were gone. Rhonda saved us that night and we owe her big!!! Being in the military you have to rely on GREAT friends to fill the void of family being so far away. I'm very grateful for the friends I've made here!! So Tom left us at the hospital to venture home and run the dogs and get Jack off to daycare. We figured it was better to keep him on schedule in the mornings and just pick him up early from daycare. So Jack met Ty for the first time around 4om yesterday. Jack was amazing with him! I really couldn't be luckier! Jack must have said "Hi Titus" a million times waiting for him to say Hi back. He uses the most gentle touch with him and gives lots of kisses. He sat on my lap and we held Ty and without me saying anything, Jack leaned down and kissed him on the nose. It was the sweetest thing I've ever seen! He's going to be a great big brother!
Everything's going smoothly and I get to go home tonight after dinner. I love that you can get out of the hospital so quickly, I'm ready to be at home with the whole family and sleep in my own bed. :-) Well, that's the latest and greatest with us....here's a few pictures. There will be many more to come!
