Back to Blogging

I've been completely lax when it comes to blogging lately. So I'm getting back into it. Be prepared world! Hahahah. I still haven't blogged about our trip home to PA for Christmas. That is on my "to do" list! I have 1129 pictures from those 12 days at home. I don't even know where to start with it all so I'm going to put it off for another day or maybe til the afternoon.
This blog will be all about our trip to Vegas. That's right we had a random last minute trip to Vegas, Baby! Tom had his classes canceled last Thursday and Friday and with Monday being the holiday we had a 5 day weekend. We looked into a few trips..... San Diego, Disneyland, or Tahoe. With the weather we decided to go somewhere it wasn't raining. Tom came up with Vegas, and so it was....who can say no to Vegas?
We called and booked the dogs at 4pm the night before we left, booked the MGM Grand and gassed up the car for a road trip. I love road trips! I'm not sure why, but I do. It's an 8 hour drive without kids. With kids and our luck...it was about 10. Murphy's Law was in full force. There's always something right?? Well, on the way there while I was driving we got hit with a HUGE rock. This rock hit right off the sunroof. (The Tribeca must be the most UN-aerodynamic car ever) We couldn't believe how loud the bang was, then we looked up. It shattered the sunroof. At this point we're about 3 hours away from Vegas, in the middle of nowhere. So after we calmed down and laughed our asses off that this really just happened we found a gas station and duct taped the crap out of it! Hahahah. I'd also like to mention that on the way home, in a torrential down pour, we lost the windshield to yet another rock! 2 for 2!
Another couple came along with us. They have a 6yo boy, which was fun for Jack. We stayed in the MGM which was really nice. The boys slept great and Ty did amazing in the stroller. We walked everywhere, all day long. Jack spent half the time on Tom's shoulders which wasn't fun but it was crowded and his little legs just weren't keeping up. There was a pretty cool arcade in the hotel which was a huge hit for Jack....and Tom. Hahaha. Tom got to play the tables and I stuck with my slot machines. I'm a total addict with those things! Tom kept claiming that I was the exact person the casinos designed slots for. Hahahah! Whatever!! It was fun! :-)
One night I actually ran into a friend that I grew up with. I haven't seen her in over 8 or 9 years. She actually recognized Tom and followed him to the arcade. He had the boys and I was heading towards the slots. It was great catching up with her! Crazy small world!
The only major bummer was that the pools were all closed! We were banking on swimming for a day or so. Surprisingly Vegas is pretty kid friendly. We saw the shark reef at Mandalay Bay, the rain fall from the ceiling at Planet Hollywood, saw the Pirate show at Treasure Island, (Jack was NOT a fan), watched the water show at the Bellegio, ran into the Blue Man Group at the Venitian, watched the Lions at the MGM and won lots of tickets at the arcade. See, even the kids had a great time! I was very proud of how well the boys traveled and just went with it all. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be! We really did have a great time! Who doesn't love Vegas???
